The job scope includes:
Complete 15 liter (L) fed-batch fermentation experiments and collect data
Provide molecular or microbiological diagnostic testing for issues related to production strain performance, foreign bacterial growth in fermenters or downstream processes, and bacteriophage testing
Operate laboratory analytical equipment for the R&D laboratory, including High-Performance Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, carbohydrate analyzers, balances and meters.
Hands-on support for the manufacture and validation of working and master cell banks used in manufacture of 1,3-propanediol.
Obtain and analyze field samples from the manufacturing process to assist troubleshooting and improvement initiatives.
Complete lab-scale trials of downstream processes including ion exchange and filtration
This position requires a self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and manage a diverse workload.
The requirements include:
Minimum of a 4-year college degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry or related science field with at least 1-year biological or chemical laboratory experience preferred.
Demonstrated teamwork skills and ability to work smoothly in a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment/adapt to changing procedures with minimal supervision.
Ability to lift 55 lbs, and use ladders to work from heights.
Night shift, holidays and/or weekends may be required on a limited basis
