About the Role

The Manager, Chemicals Procurement is responsible for category strategy within chemicals business areas, translating enterprise priorities into actionable plans that optimize cost, mitigate risk, and enhance operational effectiveness.  The role ensures consistent, high-quality execution of sourcing and supplier strategies in alignment with Primient’s operational and financial objectives.

The Manager, Chemicals Procurement leads assigned categories, driving supplier performance, contract execution, and initiatives that deliver sustainable value. Partners cross-functionally to inform decisions on cost, supply continuity, and risk, while advancing category performance through disciplined processes and continuous improvement aligned to enterprise priorities. Leads and develops a high-performing team, fostering accountability and results.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage Procurement Strategies. Build and implement multi-year sourcing strategies that deliver cost savings, risk mitigation, and long-term value aligned with business objectives. Establishes the strategic vision and guiding principles for the category across all regions.
  • Lead Strategic Sourcing and Negotiation Activities. Lead high level, complex bids, and contract negotiations to secure best total value, quality, and performance across suppliers and regions.
  • Manage Supplier and Partner Relationships. Establish performance review cadences with key suppliers to drive accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide Market and Risk Intelligence. Lead market and risk intelligence for the category by delivering forward-looking insights on market dynamics, commodity pricing, and supply chain vulnerabilities. Provide strategic guidance that empowers executive and operational decision-making.
  • Ensure Compliance and Contract Management Excellence. Oversee contract lifecycle management to ensure adherence to legal, safety, sustainability, and ethical standards, while aligning all activities with the overarching Category Strategy.
  • Manage sourcing strategies for process chemicals, ingredients, and commodities in volatile markets.
  • Oversee price risk management, including hedging exposure through OTC financial tools.
  • Partner with R&D, Quality, and Production to align materials with formulation and process needs
  • Engage and Align with Key Stakeholders. Collaborate across business units and functions to align category strategies with organizational priorities and operational needs.
  • Lead and Drive Performance. Set clear expectations, monitor results, and hold the team accountable for delivering against goals.
  • Develop Talent and Capability. Coach and support team members to build skills, enhance performance, and enable long-term growth.

Required and Preferred Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field (required)
  • Master’s degree or MBA in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering (preferred)
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma (preferred)
  • Coursework or certification in project management, continuous improvement, or communications (preferred)

Required and Preferred Work Experience

  • 5–7 years of procurement or category management experience (required)
  • Proven success developing and executing strategic sourcing strategies across various spend categories (required)
  • Experience in listed categories. (preferred)
  • Prior exposure to senior leadership and executive-level stakeholder management (preferred)
  • Deep understanding of global chemical and commodity markets, including price risk management and hedging strategies.
  • Experience in chemical sourcing, logistics, and compliance with REACH/TSCA and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven analytical and financial acumen to manage volatility and optimize total cost of supply.



Total Rewards

The annual pay range estimated for this position is $118,348.00 - $147,935.00 and is bonus eligible.

Please note that while this range reflects the full spectrum of compensation available for this role, individual compensation will be determined based on several factors including your experience, skills, and alignment with the role's responsibilities.
